1. Where to Bring It

Leather can be brought just about anywhere, but there are some places that increase the probability of having an accident that will ruin your purse. 2. Storage

When not in use, store your bag in the cloth dust bag it came in. Make sure there is a packet of silica gel in this bag to keep moisture out. Then, store the entire thing in a dark room-temperature place. This should prevent the leather from fading, cracking, or wearing. Remember to store your bag clean. Storing a dirty bag may only promote the growth of mold and bacteria.

3. Cleaning

When cleaning your bag, always make sure your hands are clean and dry. Buy leather cleaner and leather conditioner. Sometimes, the companies that manufacture the bags provide their own cleanser and conditioner. Use a soft cloth to clean the bag, rubbing the cleanser in small circles. This motion will keep the leather soft and supple. After cleaning, apply conditioner to the bag. This will help prevent cracks and breaks. Conditioner should only be applied after a cleanser has been used. Try to clean your bags once a month. This will keep it free from dirt. If the interior of the bag isn't leather (ex. cloth), clean it with a small vacuum.

Remember to ask what types of leather your purse is made of. The type of leather can change the way you clean your purse. Also, using a leather protector soon after you purchase your leather handbags can help it last even longer, and lessen the amount of dirt it accumulates over time.
